Adaptive Pathology

Technology is changing what’s possible. Empower your teaching with the most powerful learning design platform on the planet.

Teaching students and sustaining their enthusiasm can be challenging. The online tutorials gave them the opportunity to complete the tutorials at their own pace. My students enjoyed this new learning experience and there is demand for more of these tutorials in the future.

As a single pathology teacher responsible for the education of hundreds of students, including those in rural areas, Dr. Shashidhar wanted to reach out to every student with more practical and engaging material while also being able to provide each student with the feedback they needed to learn most effectively.

With Smart Sparrow, he created online and adaptive tutorials that encouraged his students to actively work through disease examinations and medical case studies, which ended up helping his struggling students to pass while offering the rest a more engaging and effective learning environment.

His first adaptive lesson teaches the basics of lung structure and function with the help of interactive medical images and video tutorials, guiding students through a physical examination of the respiratory system, chest x-rays of common lung disorders, and the pathology of chronic obstructive airway disorders. His second adaptive lesson is a snake bite analysis case study teaching history taking and clinical examination of patients with bleeding disorders and shock.

Having now integrated adaptive lessons into his teaching material over the past three years Dr Shashidhar says his students are more engaged and happy, and he is more able to maintain student engagement and his influence as a teacher even beyond the classroom.
